Welcome to the MWA/NY Speakers Bureau. Here you'll be able both to learn more about our members and to locate those writers who are available for speaking engagements.
> Locate Writers Available to Speak
Locating Writers Available to SpeakAll you need is the zip code for the location of the speaking engagement. Based on that zip code, the Speakers Bureau database will provide you a list of members who either live in your area or have indicated that they might be willing to travel the necessary distance. Each name on the list will link to an Author's Page with more information about that writer, including contact information.
You may also narrow your search by author name, book title and several mystery subgenres. Categorizing by subgenre never does justice to a writer's work. Therefore, on each Author's Page, you'll find a brief bio/career synopsis, along with information about key themes contained in the writer's books: ethnic interest, locales, protagonist's line of work, etc. The Author's Page also includes information about any special presentation the writer might have prepared for groups. For example, a writer of historical fiction might have a presentation on forensic technique in his or her period. This field will also note any subject upon which the author is particularly qualified to speak. You will also get a link to the author's website.
Learning More About Our Members
If you would simply like to learn more about our members, omit the zip code from your search. You can review the entire list of members registered for the Speakers Bureau by selecting View All Speakers. Or you can narrow your review search by name, title and/or subgenre. But please remember that in order to find speakers available for your area, you will need to use the zip code.
Fees and Reimbursements
Some members may request speaker fees and/or reimbursement of travel expenses. You and the member will negotiate these fees/reimbursements. MWA/NY will not participate in any way in these negotiations nor in making any other arrangements or guarantees about members' appearances.
